Privacy Policy

We built HarvestMath to be a small, honest, useful site. That goes for privacy too. This page explains, in plain English, what we collect, what we don’t, and how to get rid of anything we have on you.

What we collect

Not much, and only when you choose to share it:

• Your first name and email address, only when you type them into the free book form. We use them to send the book you asked for (through Brevo, our email provider), then a few short related emails over the next week or two (a tip from the book and what our garden apps can do), and after that about one email a month. Every email has an unsubscribe link. That’s it.
• Your email address and ZIP code, only when you ask for the monthly planting list on the This Month page. We keep them to email you what to start and plant in your area on the 1st of each month (through Brevo, our email provider), and for nothing else. Every email has a one-click unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing stops the emails. The ZIP code you type to see the page is also remembered on your own device only (in your browser’s storage, never sent to us) so you do not have to type it again; the “Forget my ZIP” button on that page clears it.
• Messages you send us through the contact page, the Ask HarvestMath helper or the feedback form in an app demo: your email and name if you give them, and your message. We keep them so we can reply and follow up, and we send you a copy through Brevo, our email provider. If you tick the box to let us quote your feedback, we may show your words on this site with the first name and place you gave, and nothing else; ask us and we’ll take it down. Ask us and we’ll delete your messages.
• Questions typed into Ask HarvestMath, without your name or email (we remove email addresses and phone numbers before storing them), and whether you found the answer useful. We use them to see what’s missing from the site. The helper only searches this site’s own pages; nothing you type is sent to an AI service.
• Your purchase, when you buy an app: payment is handled by Dodo Payments (our merchant of record, who also handles sales tax; buyers before October 2026 may have paid through PayPal). We never see your card details. They send us your email, name and order details so we can deliver your download, send your receipt and help if something goes wrong.
• Anonymous traffic data — things like which pages were visited, roughly where the visitor came from, and general device type (phone vs. desktop, browser family). No name, no email, no exact location, no search history.

What we do not collect

Every calculator on this site runs entirely in your browser. The numbers you type into the mulch calculator, soil calculator, spacing calculator, and every other tool never leave your device. They are not sent to our server, not stored in a database, not logged, not looked at by anyone. Close the tab and they’re gone. The one exception is when you press “Email me this result”: then the numbers in that result go into a link in the email we send you, so you can open it again. We don’t keep a copy; the email goes out through Brevo, our email provider.

How we use your email

When you ask for a free book, we use your name and email to:

• Send the book you asked for (and the result you asked us to email, if you did).
• Send a few short follow-up emails over the next week or two: a tip from your book and what the matching HarvestMath app can do.
• After that, occasional related emails: new calculators, seasonal gardening tips, and updates to the site. About one email a month. Every email has an unsubscribe link.

We never sell, rent, or share your email with third parties. We don’t buy email lists. We don’t run ads that follow you around the internet based on your email. If we ever partner with a sponsor for a specific email, we’ll make that explicit and you’ll be able to opt out before it goes out.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) for anonymous traffic analytics. GA4 gives us aggregate numbers — which pages and calculators get used, general location (country or city level, not a precise address), and general device information (phone vs. desktop, browser family) — so we know what’s useful and what needs work. It doesn’t collect your name, your email (unless you separately give it to us through a signup form), or anything you type into a calculator. We can’t identify you as an individual from it.

Cookies

This site uses cookies for analytics only — GA4 sets first-party cookies to distinguish one visit from another. We don’t run ads, so there are no advertising cookies, no cross-site tracking pixels, and no remarketing tags. If you block cookies in your browser, the site works exactly the same — you’ll just be invisible to our analytics, which is fine by us.

Unsubscribing and deleting your data

Two things you can do at any time, no questions asked:

• Unsubscribe from emails. Every email we send has an unsubscribe link at the bottom. Click it and you’re off the list immediately.
• Request that we delete your email. If you want us to remove your email address from our system entirely, contact us and we’ll delete it within 30 days. You don’t need to give a reason.

Changes to this policy

If we change anything material about how we handle data, we’ll update this page and bump the “last updated” date at the top. We won’t make a change quietly and hope nobody notices.
