About this designer
The Companion Bed Designer puts our companion planting chart to work on your own beds. Pick the bed size and the crops you want, and it lays out every square: good pairs side by side, bad ones apart, tall crops on the north side so they don't shade the rest. Then it tells you which other crops would be good companions for that bed, and which to keep out.
Change how much of each crop and it lays the bed out again, or move squares yourself and it checks every neighbor. It says how strong the evidence is for each pairing, because most companion advice is tradition rather than research. It's a single HTML file you own: no subscription, no account, and it works offline.

Can I try it before I buy? +
Yes. The free demo is the real app, not a video or a mockup. It's capped to 2 beds, and nothing you enter is saved: closing the tab clears it. Calendar downloads, backups and printing are in the full version. Buy to remove the cap and keep what you build.
Do I have to lay out the squares myself? +
No. Pick the bed size and the crops you want, and it shares out the squares (whole plants for tomatoes and squash, a square or two for herbs) and lays them out with good neighbors together. Change the amounts and it lays the bed out again, or move squares by hand if you like.
Does it agree with the companion planting chart? +
Yes. Every pair on the chart is in the app with the same good or keep-apart call, and the app adds more crops and pairs on top. Where research backs a pairing (the three sisters, keeping potatoes away from tomatoes) it says so; where it's tradition, it says that too.
Is this a subscription? +
$12.00, once. No account is created, so there is nothing to cancel, and no recurring charge, ever.
What exactly do I get? +
Two things from the same purchase: a single HTML file you download and own, and an installable copy of the same app for your phone's home screen. Either one works fully offline after the first load. The download link is on the page you land on after paying, and in your receipt email.
Does it work without internet? +
Yes, after the first load. Everything works with no connection: there's nothing on the other end for it to talk to.
Where does my data go? +
Nowhere. It stays on your device, in the browser you use the app in. HarvestMath doesn't run a server that sees it. To move to another phone or computer, save a backup file from the More tab and restore it there.
